نویسنده

چکیده

A powerful longitudinal study has failed to find any evidence that newborn babies can imitate facial gestures, hand movements or vocalisations. After 40 years of uncertainty, these findings indicate that humans learn to imitate; this capacity is not inborn.

Evolution and Memes: the Human Brain as a Selective Imitation Device

The meme is an evolutionary replicator, defined as information copied from person to person by imitation. I suggest that taking memes into account may provide a better understanding of human evolution in the following way. Memes appeared in human evolution when our ancestors became capable of imitation. From this time on two replicators, memes and genes, coevolved. Successful memes changed the ...

پیش بینی ژن‏ های بیماری با استفاده از دسته‏ بند تک‌کلاسی ماشین بردار پشتیبان

Abstract: In disease gene identification and classification, users are only interested in classifying one specific class, disease genes, without considering other classes (non-disease genes). This situation is referred to as one-class classification. Existing machine learning-based methods typically use known disease gene as positive training set and unknown genes as negative training set to bu...

Appraisal of the entire mitochondrial genome for DNA barcoding in birds

DNA barcoding based on a standardized region of 648 base pairs of mitochondrial DNAsequences from Cytochrome C Oxidase 1 (COX1) is proposed for animal species identification.Recent studies suggested that DNA barcoding has been effective for identifying 94% of birdspecies. The proposed threshold of 10 times the average intraspecific variation could be used forthe identification and delimitation ...

Mutation Screening of ENAM, KLK4, MMP20 and FAM83H Genes among the Members of Five Iranian Families Affected with Autosomal Recessive Hypoplastic Amelogenesis Imperfecta

Amelogenesis Imperfectas (AIs) are clinically and genetically heterogeneous conditions characterized by a wide range of clinical features. These abnormalities of enamel formation are categorized into three main groups, hypoplastic, hypomaturation and hypocalcified with different modes of inheritance such as autosomal recessive (AR), autosomal dominant (AD) and X-lined recessive (XLR). In spite ...

Imitation Theory and Experimental

We introduce a generalized theoretical approach to study imitation and subject it to rigorous experimental testing. In our theoretical analysis we …nd that the di¤erent predictions of previous imitation models are due to di¤erent informational assumptions, not to di¤erent behavioral rules. It is more important whom one imitates rather than how. In a laboratory experiment we test the di¤erent th...
